Community-focused, experienced, and ready to serve Scott County with transparency, efficiency, and care.

Meet Neryssa Crisp
Service has always been at the heart of who Neryssa Crisp is.
A native of Mousie, a small community in Eastern Kentucky, she grew up surrounded by people who believed in faith, hard work, and honesty—values that continue to guide her life today.
Neryssa faced challenges early on in life. Her father was absent in her life and at age 13 she lost her mother to pancreatic cancer. She was fortunate to have been adopted by a loving family who encouraged her. Where others might have given up, Neryssa doubled down, excelling in school
and graduating with honors.
After beginning her college career at Morehead State University, Neryssa transferred to Eastern Kentucky University with an interest public service through law enforcement. In 1999, at the age of 23, she enrolled in and graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy—an experience
that strengthened her sense of discipline, responsibility, and fairness. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Chad, and soon afterward the couple made Scott County their home, where they have lived, worked, and raised their family for more than two decades.
Although she valued the lessons learned through her academy training, Neryssa ultimately felt called to serve her community in a different way—one that allowed her to work directly with families and children. While serving as office manager for a local optometric practice, she completed her degree in education from Midway University.
She went on to earn multiple master’s degrees in education from Georgetown College, as well as her Rank I certification and literacy specialist credentials. For the past ten years, Neryssa has
taught second grade at Northern Elementary School, where she is known for compassion, attention to detail, and a deep commitment to helping every student succeed.
Neryssa and Chad are the proud parents of Katie, a junior at Great Crossing High School, and Ava, a seventh grader at Scott County Middle School. Chad owns Xceed, a personal fitness studio in Lexington. The family has been active members of Harmony Christian Church for 18
years, where Neryssa also serves as an assistant to the children’s pastor.
She remains deeply engaged in her daughters’ schools and her community, having served on school-based decision-making councils, her neighborhood association, and as a coach for cheer and cross-country.
Neryssa believes the same qualities that make an excellent teacher—patience, organization, communication, and a genuine desire to help people—are essential for a strong, effective County Clerk. She understands the importance of being present, ensuring the office runs efficiently and
treating every resident with respect.
Neryssa will bring the skills to the office that will combat the closed doors, unanswered calls, or confusion when seeking help that Scott Countians have too often faced. She believes our community deserves better—an accessible, dependable County Clerk who shows up every day and takes pride in providing efficient service.

Committed to Presence. Focused on Service.
Dedicated to Scott County.
For Neryssa Crisp, public service means more than just holding a title—it means showing up, listening, and getting the job done right. She believes Scott Countians deserve a County Clerk’s Office that is efficient, transparent, and truly accountable to the people it serves. With a teacher’s attention to detail, Neryssa is ready to restore professionalism and pride to the office, one interaction at a time.
Everyday Presence, Accessible Service
Scott Countians deserve a County Clerk who shows up. Too often, residents arrive at the Clerk’s Office only to find that the person elected to lead it is nowhere to be found. Neryssa believes accountability begins with being present. As Clerk, she will maintain a visible, daily presence in the office—available to staff and citizens alike. Whether it’s helping a young family register their first car, assisting a senior with a title transfer, or answering questions about elections, Neryssa will be there to ensure everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. A reliable public servant should never be a rarity—and under her leadership, it won’t be.
Efficient, Organized Records & Licensing
From property deeds to vehicle titles, the Clerk’s Office safeguards some of Scott County’s most vital records. Neryssa knows that efficiency and organization are essential to good public service. Drawing on her classroom experience, where accuracy and attention to detail are nonnegotiable, she will lead an office that runs smoothly and effectively. Her focus will be on proper staff training, clear processes, and modern record-keeping so that paperwork is completed promptly and correctly. Residents will notice the difference in a Clerk’s Office that operates with professionalism, timeliness, and consistency.
Strong Election Integrity and Voter Access
The County Clerk is the local guardian of our electoral system, and Neryssa takes that responsibility seriously. She will ensure that every election in Scott County is conducted with fairness, transparency, and efficiency. That means maintaining strict security over voting machines and ballots, ensuring poll workers are properly trained, and providing clear communication with voters about registration and election procedures. Neryssa is committed to building trust in the process by keeping elections secure while also ensuring that every eligible citizen can easily and confidently exercise their right to vote.
Accurate Fee and Tax Administration
The Clerk’s Office manages millions of dollars in public funds through taxes, fees, and state remittances. Neryssa believes those funds must be handled with the same care and accountability as any business’s budget—or even a family’s checkbook. She will emphasize precise record-keeping, timely reporting, and full transparency to taxpayers. Under her leadership, residents can trust that every transaction is handled responsibly, every dollar is accounted for, and every record is kept to the highest standard of accuracy and professionalism.
Customer-Focused Technology & Modernization
Government should work for the people, not against them. Neryssa plans to modernize the Clerk’s Office by expanding access to online services, streamlining renewals and payments, and improving internal technology systems. At the same time, she will ensure that those who prefer in-person service continue to receive the personal attention they deserve. With smart innovation, regular staff training, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Neryssa will bring the office into the modern era—efficient, accessible, and friendly.
Community-Driven Leadership and Accountability
At her core, Neryssa loves our community. She is a teacher because she felt called to help others—and that same calling drives her to serve as County Clerk. She understands that leadership is not about titles, but about trust. As Clerk, she will listen to the community, respond quickly to concerns, and ensure that everyone who walks through the door is treated with dignity and fairness. Her goal is to rebuild public confidence in the office through presence, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to service.
